Great Indian Hornbill

The Great Hornbill (Buceros bicornis) also known as Great Indian Hornbill or Great Pied Hornbill, is one of the larger members of the hornbill family.It is official bird of Kerala.  Their impressive size and colour have made them important in many tribal cultures and rituals.

വേഴാമ്പൽ കുടുംബത്തിലെ അംഗമാണ് മലമുഴക്കി വേഴാമ്പൽ. കേരളത്തിന്റെ സംസ്ഥാന പക്ഷിയാണ് ഈ വേഴാമ്പൽ.വംശംനാശ ഭീഷണി നേരിട്ടു കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്ന മലമുഴക്കി വേഴാമ്പലിനെ കേരളത്തിൽ സാധാരണയായി  അതിരപ്പിള്ളി വാഴച്ചാൽ ചെന്തുരുണി കാടുകളിൽ മലമുഴക്കി വേഴാമ്പലിനെ കാണാറുണ്ട്.
